About Driftwood
Driftwood started with one cabin in Muskoka and a frustration with booking sites that treat every listing the same. Nine years later we look after a short list of homes and the people who own them.
We turn down most of the homes offered to us. Not because they are bad, but because a list you can read in one sitting is more useful than one you have to filter for an hour. If a place makes it on here, it is because someone on our team would happily book it for their own family.
That means we grow slowly. It also means when you email us about a house, you get an answer from a person who has been inside it and knows whether the third bedroom is really a bedroom.
Owners set their own rates and keep the relationship with their guests. We handle the listing, the booking and the awkward questions, and we take a straightforward cut rather than a percentage that climbs every year.
Every home on this site has had one of us sleep in it. We check the water pressure, the wifi, the mattress and how long the kettle takes.
Cleaning, service and tax are shown before you commit. Nothing appears at the last screen that was not there at the first.
You deal with the person whose house it is. They answer their own phone and they know which beach is quiet on a Saturday.
